Claiming

The Basics
SMP uses a custom claiming plugin to protect your builds within the world! 
To start out, find an area you'd like to reside in, and place down a bell in the specific chunk you want your "home block" to be. By following the in-chat prompt and ringing the bell within 15 seconds, it will create a 3x3 chunk claim. Claim bells have to be 10 chunks away from another person's claim - but you can eventually claim right up to a persons claim. You can crouch + right-click the bell to view some details about your claim!

Growing Your Claim
To expand your claim, you need to get claim points. Every 30 minutes, if a member of your claim is online and active, you gain 1 claim point with a maximum of 15 stored. Using these claim points, you can use plain green and plain red banners to either claim or unclaim surrounding chunks respectively. You can make a maximum claim size of 41x41.

You can also claim an outpost in the other 2 dimensions your claim isn't in. The method is the exact same as making a main claim - the only difference being that you start with a 1x1 chunk claim, and can only expand it to 9x9 chunks.

If you want to view a visual outline of your claim borders, hold a spyglass in your main or offhand while running around - borders will appear as lime green particles.

Member Management
To add other members, they need to ring your bell, and you need to ring it to accept them. Conversely, by writing a claim member's name on a piece of paper and right-clicking it on a bell, you can kick them from the claim!

You can protect containers from other claim members by crouch + clicking a given chest with a tripwire hook, and unlock them by crouch + clicking on it with shears.

Claim Expiration
Claims expire after a certain period of inactivity, with no members logging in at any point in a given time. How long a claim can be inactive for is dependent on the collective playtime of the claim. The following max inactivity lengths are:
- Less than 1 hour of collective playtime = 14 days
- Less than 6 hours = 1 month
- Less than 24 hours = 3 months
- 24+ hours of playtime = 6 months

Claim Features and QoLs
You can change the name and color of your claim! You can change the name by right-clicking your claim bell with a renamed nametag. You can change the color by right-clicking it with a dye! 
To get a small in-game refresher, use the command /claims tutorial followed by overview, bell, join, banners, or locks.
